You’ve got to be kidding me with some of the scope of work to price on production job postings I’ve seen. I think fiverr and upwork have been so detrimental to clients living in reality about pricing high quality creative work that you see absolute highway robbery budgets for a shit ton of work.
Client: 20-40 short form edits a month (references are all super detailed edit work + motion gfx) and they want the average price of a video to be sub $100.
This isn’t the 1950s anymore ladies and gents where you’re filling a grocery cart for $15.
This is where Contra stands above every other job board platform because despite seeing some postings on here that are living in lalaland, it’s not fiverr where you actually have the majority of jobs being outsourced for literal dollars and driving down what the work is worth industry wide.
Either way though, you get what you pay for and there’s nobody doing work for these prices outputting consistent great quality which is why you see these same clients with ridiculous turnover and always looking for new editors

In what way do you actually think prices are on their way to match those from the 1950s? lol Please let me know if San Diego is heading there price-wise so I can move my operations over there 😂 Yes the creative space is accessible and people can do most things in-house. Also,...

I meant the perceived value of creative work going down, figurative speech, of course, trying to piggyback on your 1950s prices observation. But I'm now more interested in why would you want to move operations to a place where people might not value what you do, though? 😂

no man, i was joking- i'm not interested in moving my operations. Disagree with you on perceived value of creative work going down generally. There will always be companies who don't value creative work compared to the way others do. too nuanced of a convo to generalize...
