I've never edited a video in my life. I build software for a living. But I found Renoise, saw this challenge, and as someone who can't resist one, I treated it the only way I knew how: as a problem to solve, shot by shot. 17 scenes, one storyboard, a lot of trial and error from a cornfield on Earth to the red plains of Mars.
I didn't know how to make a film. So I just kept asking: what does this feel like? And chased that frame by frame.

The Renoise × Contra Challenge pushed me far outside my comfort zone—in the best possible way. It was a great excuse to experiment, fail, iterate, and end up creating AFTERLIFE, a 27-second dystopian short built entirely in Renoise Canvas.
