Skill Assessment Matrix is a SaaS designed to help Product Designers and UI/UX Designers better understand their current level, identify their strongest skills, and build a personalized growth roadmap
The idea came from a problem I experienced early in my career:
This first version is focused on the desktop experience and was designed as the foundation for a larger SaaS product
๐ฃ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐๐๐
Designers often struggle with:
โฆ Understanding their current level
โฆ Identifying their strongest skills
โฆ Knowing what to improve next
โฆ Creating a clear career growth plan
๐ฆ๐ข๐๐จ๐ง๐๐ข๐ก
Skill Assessment Matrix helps designers answer three simple questions:
โฆ Where am I today?
โฆ What are my strongest skills?
โฆ What should I focus on next?
The product guides users through a complete career planning flow:
๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐ญ [Career Goals Setup] Users define their career goals and desired direction
๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐ฎ [Self Assessment] Users evaluate their current skills across multiple competency areas
๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐ฏ [Summary] The system generates a personalized overview highlighting strengths and growth opportunities.
๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐ฐ [Roadmap Builder] Users receive a personalized roadmap and can further customize it by adding their own skills
๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐ฑ [PDF Export] The final roadmap can be exported as a PDF and used as a practical career development plan.
โก๏ธThis roadmap generation and export flow became one of the most valuable features of the projectโก๏ธ

This is exactly the kind of thing Iโve been missing! Iโve thought many times about needing something like this, and Iโll definitely be using it. Beautifully executed - great visual design, thoughtful UX, and so much attention to detail. Amazing work!๐ฅ ๐ฅ ๐ฅ
Thaaaank you sooo much Ruslana, I'm sooo glad to hear that you are goind to use it, there are custom skills builder and pdf download on the last step , so I hope you will enjoy using of this product ๐
This is brilliant ๐ Figuring out your actual skill level as a designer is way harder than it should be, and your project solves it so elegantly. Genuinely one of those โwhere has this been all this time?โ products โจ
Sasha, I really like what you've managed to create ๐ค๐ซถ, and I agree that it's better to build your career by focusing on your own strengths rather than comparing yourself to others. I wish you the best of luck in the competition!
This is a much-needed tool for the design community! The struggle of defining one's level and finding a clear growth path is very real. Love that you backed this up with 5+ years of research and Figma Community frameworks. The PDF roadmap export is definitely a killer feature...
Michael, thank you sooo much for your kind words and for supporting me on contra, I'm truly appreciative of that , yes, if you are interested in in his skill development topic please check resourses in the google dock there are really interesting frameworks ๐ ๐ฅ
That's awesome! it was worth putting all that effort into this project ๐ฅ I really like it, and I really hope the whole community will appreciate it and that we'll create a fully-fledged product in future
Thank you so much, Ilya for your help and participation in this project, we did a great job ๐ฅ and I really believe that we will develop this SaaS in the future
I think almost every designer has questioned their level at some point and wondered what skills they should focus on to keep growing. The tricky part is that itโs often hard to evaluate yourself objectively.
Viktoriia, thank you so much for your support and kind words, I am really happy to hear that from you, and I hope to build in the future product even biger with the same mission ๐
Love this! Solving a problem you actually lived through always makes for the strongest products. The roadmap + PDF export feature is a brilliant way to turn self-assessment into real action. ๐ฅ
Yurii, thank you so much ๐ ๐ I really appreciate your support, yep, I really believe that roadmap here is a killer feature ๐ and that the you can add your own skills on the last step ๐ thanks once again
Thank you Ester, for your support ๐ ๐ I appreciate it so much ๐ We don't know each other, but you support me so much that I feel like you're my best friend every time I see your profile picture on Contra ๐

Oh woooow ๐๐๐
๐ I'm thrilled with the workโ
the idea is simply incredible; it's exactly what we need in today's world to shake off distractions and focus on specific actions.
Thank you for such a wonderful concept.
The colors are simply incredible ๐ฅ ๐ฅ ๐ฅ
I remember asking myself the same question earlier in my career. Having a structured way to assess skills and build a clear growth roadmap could help many designers navigate their development with more confidence. Great work! ๐
Thank you so much, Viktoriia, yes seems all we have the same question at the beginning of the career ๐ Thank you so much for your support I'm so glad you like it ๐
Thank you so much, Kate, for your support and kind words ๐ I really appreciate it, and I'm sooo glad to see that I guess the request of design community ๐ ๐ ๐
Love how simple and refined this UI feels ๐ Itโs clean, stylish, and easy on the eyes without trying too hard. The concept itself is really thoughtful and valuable. Such a great idea, beautifully executed โจ

Sasha, I really love what youโve created here ๐ ๐ซถ Itโs great to see how youโre building your own path and focusing on your strengths instead of comparing yourself to others. That mindset is honestly very powerful. Wishing you the best of luck in the competition keep going, your work deserves attention โจ๐ฅ
Thank you so much, Klym for your kind words and support on my journey ๐ ๐ I hope as well that design community will test this product and use it))
:By the way, have you thought about participating next time?
The PDF export at the end is a smart touch. Most self-assessment tools stop at a score, but turning that into something a designer can actually bring to a performance review or use as a personal roadmap makes it genuinely useful. Curious how you handle skill areas that span both soft and hard skills.
Thank you so much ๐ you are absolutely right. Soft skills are supposedly harder to measure, but responsibility and meeting deadlines are all about soft skills, too - so at least some aspect of them can be measured. Thatโs just how we live, we measure everything we can.
By the...
Haha yes, exactly. I used the PDF more as a starting point, then added my own skills so it felt closer to my actual workflow. The template made it easier to organize everything, but the real value was seeing which skills actually show up in my day-to-day work.
Wow wow wow๐
Such an important and impressive product, you are a true inspiration, the GOAT if I may๐คญ
The "imposter syndrome" or career-level ambiguity is something almost every designer faces at some point, it's so incredibly valuable to have a structured way to understand your experience and visualize growth๐ฅ
Thank you sooo much for your support, Valeriia. It means a lot to me. Is it really possible to find a designer in this world who doesn't doubt themselves? I doubt it ๐ง
By the way, have you had a chance to check it out? At the end, you can download a PDF with a roadmap ๐
It's an incredible idea to create such a product, often you don't know where to go or what skills and abilities you need to learn in your direction. Amazing work!๐
What a valuable idea! โจ The roadmap builder and PDF export make this feel genuinely useful, not just another assessment tool. I can see a lot of designers benefiting from this.I wish you the best of luck in the competition!๐
Thank you so much Nataly ๐ ๐ I'm incredibly happy to see that you find this tool useful, I hope we'll continue to develop it and build a fully-fledged tool like this for designers ๐
Love this idea! ๐
Having a clear roadmap can make a huge difference when learning new skills. Excited to see how this helps the community grow ๐ฅ ๐ฅ ๐ฅ
hey Oleksandra, today I finaly try tis tool and did an assesment and I'd like to say its awesome, I've builded roadmap for thge next year and even export it in PDF its really solve the problem of the community great job! ๐ฅ
The way the editorial grid lets Teriโs work lead while the oversized name anchors the page feels beautifully restrained. Nice balance of art direction and a usable Webflow portfolio structure.
Marigold is a one day concept for envato's human by design challenge. i set the direction in real photography first then generated against that standard.
