pureflow is a hyper realistic camera simulation mobile app that I built to bring the heavy and tangible feel of vintage photography equipment straight into the browser. Modern mobile apps have become entirely flat, stripping away the tactile joy of interacting with physical hardware. That loss of mechanical feel was a design problem I genuinely wanted to solve for myself, sparking an idea I just had to chase. I brought this dream product to life as a prototype where every interaction feels like manipulating a real machine rather than just tapping a glass screen.
The core experience revolves around five legendary camera modules including the Fujifilm X100V, Sony RX100, Kodak FunSaver, Polaroid SX 70, and Leica M3. Whenever you mechanically swap the active camera, the entire device skin transforms dynamically to match it, shifting from sleek brushed aluminum to nostalgic yellow plastic or vintage tan leather. I completely avoided standard flat design patterns. Instead, the control panels feature solid base plates holding heavy metal focus rings, jagged plastic thumbwheels, and stealthy mechanical flash switches built with precise inner shadows and specular highlights. You can explore the live prototype and these hardware level UI interactions directly in my Flowstep workspace here: https://app.flowstep.ai/file?activeFileId=4cdb4023-8520-43dc-95c9-cd75e4e388c8
