Are we READY to GROW?
This is not always about choosing between FAST GROWTH and SUSTAINABLE GROWTH.
Sustainable growth does not mean growing slowly.
For me, it actually means building a STRONG FOUNDATION that can support growth.
If a genuine opportunity for fast growth comes in,
“Why should a founder avoid it just because it is fast?”
FOR EXAMPLE:
If I get a 6-month contract that can bring a significant opportunity for the business.
I would not differentiate between:
“Is this fast growth?”
or
“Is this sustainable growth?”
I would look at the opportunity and ask:
“Am I ready to handle it?”
Because the foundation is something that the founder is already working on.
The skills, ideas, systems, team and understanding are already being developed.
So, if an opportunity comes naturally, the founder can choose to take it.
But this does not mean that we should stop strengthening the system.
In fact, as the work grows, the system also needs to grow with it.
“The goal is not to force growth.”
“The goal is to be ready when an opportunity comes.”
Because fast growth can become sustainable when the foundation is strong enough to support it.
However, the result will tell us whether that growth actually worked or not.
The customer experience,
The quality of work,
The team's ability to handle it and
The outcome will show what that growth really created.
So maybe the question is not:
“Should founders choose fast growth or sustainable growth?”
Instead, the better question is:
“Is your foundation strong enough to handle the growth opportunity in front of you?”
