Getting the biplane's rigging and struts to read this clean against a flat color background is harder than it looks, most digital illustrations of mechanical subjects end up cluttered. What almost didn't make the final version, was there a more literal background you cut for that yellow?

Everything was drawn in Photoshop from scratch using photographic references. I experimented with different background ideas, but ultimately kept it minimal so the plane and all those structural details would read as clearly as possible.
