I usually see dropdowns with a fade in and offset animation, so I thought I'd try animating it on the component level and see what happens.
This is the result. (Slowed down to emphasize the animations)

Buttery smooth!
It's definitely worth the time; these micro-animations are part of the overall product experience.
I liked the left option better because it seamlessly transitions into the component, while the right option, when offset, seems to lift the list off the header.

One small detail I didn't want to let go unnoticed in STUDIO HRSE: the nav doesn't just show you where you are, it follows you there.
It's the kind of thing most people won't consciously register, but it's exactly the level of care I wanted this template to carry throughout.
