How different are AI node-based tools from each other?
ElevenLabs just launched Flows, a node-based canvas, so I tested it by creating a 30s product ad with narration.
I’ve always liked working with node-based tools, so it’s nice to have another option in the mix.
So far, it felt pretty straightforward, especially if you’re already familiar with this kind of workflow. Getting started was easy, and having voice, sfx, and music powered by ElevenLabs is a big plus.
I also like that the text-to-speech feature has a large voice library to choose from, and that being able to add audio tags helps improve the accuracy of the narration’s tone.
Overall, I think Flows is useful for projects that need strong audio integration, worth trying if that’s your use case.

Really interesting breakdown! 🙌 From your experience, how would you compare ElevenLabs Flow with tools like ComfyUI or LangFlow in terms of flexibility and scalability?

Thanks! Not sure about those two as I haven't tried it before, but those sound interesting to try out someday!

That's very impressive, Karina. Did you go through a lot of iterations before you got video that was usable for each scene, or did you pretty-much hit the mark straight out of the box? Well done.

Thank you so much for the kind compliments Ted! For each image / video I did a few iterations each before getting what I like! But I do generate the image first to get a more accurate results for the video :)

Thanks for your reply, Karina. Yes, in my limited dabblings with AI video generation, I found that having a good starting image really helps in reaching the hoped-for result when I generate AI videos. Again, well done.

The trick isn't stopping the loop, it's realizing that the "I'm a fraud" thoughts are usually just your brain's way of processing the pressure of actually being in the arena. If you're better than you were three months ago, the "deserted parking lot" is just a temporary pit...

Node-based AI tools all converge on the same problem: the canvas is easy, the taste isn't. Flows wins when you already know what you want and need to assemble fast. It loses when you're using it to think for you. Curious if you found the audio tagging actually preserved emotional intent or just tonal accuracy.

That’s true, I think relying entirely on AI tends to give weaker results most of the time, and honestly that applies to pretty much every AI tool I’ve used so far.
I think the audio tagging is more effective for tonal accuracy at the moment, but in some cases it does help guide the emotional intent.
