A while ago, I had the privilege of working for none other than Ben & Jerry’s to film their Free Cone Day in the Netherlands.

In addition to filming and photography, I was responsible for handling filming rights, as the footage would be used in their global marketing campaigns. It was an incredible feeling to contribute to something so much bigger than myself.

To this day, it remains my highest-paid one-off project. Considering it only required some prep and a half-day shoot, totaling eight hours of work, the rate I was able to charge was something I never had done before in my carreer! The footage was featured in their 2023 global campaigns, and I am still so grateful for the opportunity, which has since led to several more projects including internal work for Unilever.

What happens when you stop trying to make something new and start reimagining something old?

Lately I’ve been feeling a little uninspired, so I’ve been reconnecting with nature instead of chasing novelty.

I’m experimenting with turning nature paintings from The Met Open Access collection into ASCII mixed-media pieces.

Even as paintings, nature removes the pressure to be “original” and replaces it with curiosity.

Reimagining over creating is such an underrated approach. Those ASCII collage pieces have such a moody and layered feel to them. Really love this direction!
