🌊 Throwback: Ninth Wave — where it all started.
Back in 2020, early in my journey as a freelance logo designer, I got the chance to build the identity for Ninth Wave — a surf-inspired skincare brand rooted in ocean minimalism.
The brief was simple but demanding: capture the feeling of salt water and sun-worn skin, without losing a premium, clean aesthetic. The result was a mark built from two overlapping waveforms — literally forming the "N" and "W."
The color palette (soft ocean blue + deep matte black) was chosen to feel both coastal and elevated — because "surf brand" doesn't have to mean loud or busy. Sometimes restraint is the aesthetic.
Looking back, Ninth Wave was one of the projects that shaped how I approach brand identity today — building marks that don't just look good, but feel like the world they belong to.
