Claude 4.7 and "Claude Design" just dropped, and honestly, I have mixed feelings.

If you’ve tried the Build mode in Google AI Studio, this feels pretty similar on the surface. You act as a creative director: you prompt the feeling you want, and the AI spits out a functional UI prototype.

On one hand, the workflow is undeniably powerful, especially since you can use the Figma MCP to push Claude’s output straight into your Figma. For a freelancer, that speed is hard to ignore.

But digging into it, there are two massive friction points I'm noticing:

1. The Token Burn Rate Claude 4.7 uses "adaptive thinking" for complex UI tasks, and you can't turn it off. It burns through your token limits insanely fast, making rapid iteration pretty expensive if you use it all day.

2. Outsourcing Your Craft When you rely entirely on vibe coding to build a site, you are giving up control over the micro-decisions. You are essentially outsourcing your personal taste, typography scales, and interaction flows to an AI's default training data.
