I recently saw a discussion around an AWS executive saying that developers will need stronger communication skills, not just coding skills.
Honestly, I agree with the direction.
After years of working directly with clients, I’ve seen the same thing many times:
Clients rarely need “just a developer”.
They need someone who can take a messy idea, ask the right questions, understand the business context, and turn it into a working product.
Code is only part of the job.
The harder part is often: – clarifying the problem – choosing the right technical direction – reducing unnecessary complexity – explaining trade-offs clearly – helping the client make better product decisions
That’s why I believe strong engineers are becoming less like “ticket executors” and more like technical partners.
Especially in early-stage SaaS, marketplaces, analytics tools, and AI products.
The value is not only in building features.
The value is in helping the product move in the right direction.
