New Lefty Notes.
We asked ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI about twelve Kansas City businesses. Six had no website: a barber, a nail salon, an auto mechanic, a taqueria, a tailor and a shoe repair place, each with at least 50 Google reviews and 4.5 stars or better. The other six were in the same trades and had one.
120 answers, with our predictions locked in before the first question.
The AIs knew almost all of them. With no website to read, they read Google listings, Yelp, Birdeye, MapQuest and the Chamber of Commerce.
Getting picked was different. Asked for the best in each trade, the twelve got named eight times in twenty four answers. The businesses with websites got picked three times as often, six to two.
The order it happened in: AI has to find a page about you. Then your name has to be on the pages it reads when somebody asks who to hire. Then your reviews do the talking.
Knowing you is GEO. Picking you is Pick Rate. Those are the two things we measure for every client. https://leftymediaco.substack.com/p/ai-knows-you-does-it-pick-you

"Knowing you is GEO, picking you is Pick Rate" is a sharp split. Sites getting picked 6 times versus 2 is a big gap. Was it the website itself that made the difference, or what was written on it?
