Fact: launch is the first day the site meets real visitors. It needs care after that: updates, fixes, content and tracking.
What a monthly check covers on the sites I look after:
• Updates on staging first: core, theme, plugins or apps
• Every form tested end to end. Does the email actually arrive?
• Search Console: new errors, new 404s, pages dropped from the index
• Speed on the top pages, on mobile, not just desktop
Most problems I find in audits weren't there at launch. A plugin update broke a form, a page was renamed without a redirect, a new script slowed the homepage.
None of them are dramatic. They just pile up when nobody looks.
Who checks your site after launch, and how often?

Exactly, and nothing looks wrong from the outside: the page loads, the thank-you message shows, the email just never arrives. A real test entry each month is what catches it.
Your homepage has about 10 seconds to answer four questions. If it cannot, most visitors will leave quietly — no complaint, no enquiry, just a closed tab.
So true for Shopify stores too. I'd add that on mobile, half those 10 seconds go to load time. A heavy hero video can cost you the visitor before the headline even shows.
The meta keywords habit really never died, some plugins still push that field. A unique title and a meta description written to earn the click do so much more.
