I recently challenged myself to rethink how I approach lighting and texture in my digital illustrations. For this specific piece, my goal was to move beyond a standard "pet portrait" and focus on the technicality of "Golden Hour" lighting—specifically how light interacts with complex textures like fur.
As a creator, it’s easy to get stuck in a workflow that "works." Taking the time to deconstruct my process reminded me that the best growth happens when you intentionally step outside your comfort zone.
For the fellow creatives or designers in my network: How often do you set aside time to experiment with new techniques outside of client work? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
