Luminance Burn-Through: a real night drive burns through into a cartoon, with the effect built by the invideo Editor agent.
Effect: Luminance Burn-Through (custom shader / alpha matte).
Starting footage: a 10-second night drive with four friends, generated with AI, plus a cartoon version of the same shot, also prepared with AI before editing. Both clips were stacked in invideo Editor, real on top, cartoon below. Voiceover generated with ElevenLabs. Music bed licensed from invideo's library. Whoosh sound effects generated in invideo Editor. Screen recordings captured with a screen recorder.
What I asked the agent: to build a luminance matte so bright lights burn through the real footage and reveal the cartoon underneath. The agent found my layers were in the wrong order, fixed the stack and built a luminance_burn_through shader with Threshold and Edge Softness controls. I then directed it to animate the Threshold (streetlights first, then the neon street, then the whole tunnel), asked for a lower end value and one more key so the last frame is fully cartoon, and asked for a glowing edge (orange to magenta) with Glow Width and Glow Intensity controls. The agent also assembled the final video, captions, background, punch-ins and sound design in invideo Editor.
What I refined myself: I dragged Glow Intensity and Edge Softness to my own values, cropped the baked-in labels off the source comparison clip, checked frames and picked the final values.
invideo Editor is free to try.
