LEARNING TECH SKILLS IS GREAT. LEARNING THE RIGHT ONE IS BETTER.
One of the biggest mistakes people make when entering tech is trying to learn everything at once.
Python. JavaScript. AI. Cybersecurity. Cloud. Data Science. UI/UX. Blockchain.
Before you know it, you’ve watched 20 tutorials but still don’t know what you can actually build.
The goal shouldn’t be to learn every tech skill.
The goal is to find one valuable skill that matches your interests, strengths, and the opportunities you want to pursue.
So how do you pick the right tech skill?
Ask yourself:
🔹 What do I enjoy doing? Do you like building things, solving problems, designing, analyzing data, or working with people?
🔹 What problem can this skill solve? A skill becomes more valuable when you can use it to create something useful.
🔹 Are there real opportunities for it? Look at jobs, freelance projects, businesses, and emerging industries before committing your time.
🔹 Can I practice it consistently? Don't choose a skill simply because it is trending. Choose something you can realistically spend months improving.
🔹 Can I build a portfolio with it? Learning is good. Being able to demonstrate what you can do is even better.
And remember:
You don't need to know everything before you start.
Pick one direction. Learn the fundamentals. Build small projects. Make mistakes. Improve. Then gradually expand your skill set.
In today's tech industry, continuous learning is important, but focused learning is powerful.
Don't chase every trend.
Pick a skill. Build with it. Become useful with it. Then grow from there.
What tech skill are you currently learning or planning to learn?
