Pasta Time with Ideogram & Midjourney 🍝 I tested how Ideogram and Midjourney generate illustrations when the goal is a hand-drawn, doodle-style look. This is what I got. Which one makes you want to take a bite?

I want to love 2 so much because it's adorably wacky, but it just veers too far into Dr. Seuss territory for me. Overall, very eye catching!

That’s exactly the tension I was curious about 👀 #2 has that adorably wacky energy, but it definitely flirts with Dr. Seuss territory.
As a designer, I feel like #1 keeps the charm while staying more “food-first” — less character, more appetite.

Curious how you read it — does it feel playful to you or too abstract?

For me the motion feels too unintentional

Pasta, but make it interpretive dance 💃🍝

Style and direction is so good but dang, the hours I've spent on some video assets where those creepy'ish things are so hard to fix.

Yes 😭 the “why is this suddenly unsettling” phase of motion design. Style is forgiving — animation is not. Curious — do you usually dial it back to safer motion, or push through until it clicks?

I don't do much motion / video generation just yet for this exact reason.

I would say they have two different personalities. Nr.2 would appeal to a younger audience—more of a kids - focused brand. With option no. 1, a pasta brand or shop could work as well. They feel fun and playful. What did you use to animate them? It is frame by frame?

Love this breakdown — that’s exactly how I felt about them too. #1 feels more brand-agnostic, #2 more mascot-driven.
And no, not frame-by-frame — these are AI motion outputs. I wanted to test how usable they feel at the direction stage before committing to proper animation.

This looks fun, especially the dancing pasta. To answer your question, 1 makes me want to take a bite.

Haha, the pasta really went full choreography 💃🍝 Love that you said that — #1 feels more appetite-led, which makes such a difference for food brands.

One looks more realistic and have less bugs imo 😊

I agree — it feels more emotional and expressive 🙌 For me, that creates a stronger sense of connection.

In number 2, I can't get past the blip at the end. It looks like the noodles go up her nose! :-)
