$9 for 100 products. $50+ for 1,000 products.
That's what most Shopify app store inventory sync apps charge.
So I built my own.
Last week, I shipped a custom inventory sync system using Node.js, Axios, and Shopify's GraphQL API (mutations + queries).
Here's what it does π
β Syncs inventory between 2 Shopify stores
β One-directional OR bidirectional (toggle in .env)
β Optional: auto-restocks inventory when an order is cancelled
β Works for 100 products or 100,000+ pricing doesn't change
β Host it locally via ngrok (zero monthly cost)
β Or host it online for $5β10/month flat
That last one matters more than people think.
Some clients don't just care about cost. They care about security.
They don't want their inventory data sitting inside a third-party app subscription.
This solves both.
Why I built it as a product, not just a one-off:
I keep seeing clients stuck between two bad options:
Pay $50+/month for an app that scales pricing with their catalog
Build it from scratch (expensive + slow)
There's a third option β productized custom automation.
You get the flexibility of custom code without the agency-level price tag.
This is what being a Shopify consultant in 2026 looks like.
Not just building stores. Building solutions to problems Shopify apps don't solve well.
What's a recurring app cost you'd replace with something custom if you could?
