People have been talking about this Dario Amodei quote from Davos that AI could do most of what software engineers do within 6-12 months.
What’s interesting to me is that he wasn’t just talking about better coding tools - he was arguing that software engineering may be one of the first domains to get close to full task automation (which could then accelerate AI progress itself)
Curious how this is showing up for freelancers here...
What parts of software work feel closest to full automation right now, and what still feels very far away?
Super interesting point! 🤔 From my perspective, repetitive or boilerplate tasks like code scaffolding, simple CRUD operations, or generating documentation feel closest to automation. What still seems far from full automation is complex problem-solving, architecture decisions, and understanding nuanced user needs.
it's their job to say these big statements, as their investments depend on it, if you want to really learn about the possiblities of AI stop listening to these hype creators sam altamn, Dario Amodei, elong musk etc and start listening to real fathers of AI Andrew ng and so on..
Could you define what you mean by problem solving?
If you mean messy real-world judgment, I agree AI still has limits. But in structured tasks like reasoning, coding, synthesis, and research, top models are already very strong.
So the real question is where those limits still matter most.

Recently worked on a project for https://joindawn.com/ on the release of their new product. Hired by my friend https://x.com/hunterthompson to create the initial logo and creative direction.
He always brings me great projects that give me room to really push the logo and brand work.
With Dawn, I explored a wide range of directions — looking at how we could express sun, serenity, and mental health in a way that felt warm, calm, and approachable.
These were some of the early explorations across a few different visual directions.
