On Objectivity in Writing
It is widely acknowledged that we are all cultural and social subjects and, as such, we can never be completely detached from these conditions when creating intellectual work.
Still, it is worth asking where those influences begin to enrich a text, and where they might start to limit it — especially when developing ideas or building narrative worlds meant to be read across different contexts.
This reflection does not seek definitive answers. Can a writer ever fully step outside their own cultural framework? To what extent are these traces desirable within a text? And when do they become part of an author’s distinctive voice rather than a constraint?
