Legacy — A Digital Time Capsule for the Future
Legacy is an interactive digital time capsule that helps people preserve memories, stories, and messages for someone to receive in the future.
Users can create capsules for a child, partner, family member, or future self, then add letters, voice recordings, videos, photos, recipes, life advice, and milestones.
The core interaction is a visual timeline. Users drag memories onto future years and choose when they should unlock. For example:
“This letter will unlock in 9 years.”
Once a capsule is complete, the user selects a recipient, sets an unlock date, adds a trusted contact, previews the recipient experience, and seals it.
When the date arrives, the recipient verifies their identity and opens a guided story containing everything preserved for them—not just a folder of files.
The prototype was built in Flowstep and includes:
Capsule creation
Multi-format memories
Interactive timeline
AI-assisted writing and transcription
Recipient verification
Trusted contacts
Family archives
Capsule preview and sealing
Future delivery and private replies

The design is warm, minimal, and editorial, using General Sans, Inter, and IBM Plex Mono with a restrained off-white and burnt-orange color system.
Legacy asks one simple question:

The Future in Black was built for Joy Fennell to hold a story that needed more than a standard portfolio site. Our goal from the start was to make the site feel archival and alive at once, part digital exhibit, part living brand presence, so every design decision was made to support that feeling rather than just present information.
We started with structure: how should a visitor move through this content, and what pace should that movement have? That question shaped our use of Finish Layer's block animations. Text reveals on scroll, so the story unfolds in beats instead of arriving all at once, closer to reading a book than scrolling a website. Images use hover interactions to invite a second look without pulling focus from the words around them.
From there we layered in movement. Shapes transform and shift position as the visitor scrolls, adding depth and a sense of motion that a static layout couldn't carry. This was the piece that took the most iteration, getting the timing and scale of these transforms to feel intentional rather than gimmicky meant testing several versions before landing on the current pacing.
Typography carried a lot of the brand's identity, so we uploaded Million and Inter Tight rather than relying on Squarespace's native font library. Million gives the site its editorial voice in headlines, and Inter Tight keeps body copy clean and legible against it.
The result is a site built on Squarespace's foundation, using Finish Layer's native tools alongside custom CSS and JS, pushed toward something that reads as custom, editorial, and specific to one person's story rather than a repeatable formula.

This is my submission, EditorialGen. I created
a fictive Envato AI tool that focuses on the concept of Human by Design to turn
your plain photos into editorial-worth artwork. EditorialGen was born through the
fusion of ImageGen and VideoGen, two tools that I use daily on all sorts of
projects, both for the projects of my clients and my own. This tool allows you
to implement your human judgment at each step of the process in order to
achieve art that is truly HUMAN and shares your identity and talent. Made with
the assistance of the most specific features for your editorial photography.
