I’ve been building a new AI tool for industrial maintenance and CMMS master data teams:
CMMS Tree AI
AI-powered CMMS object-tree builder for industrial bulk-handling equipment.
In industrial projects, creating CMMS equipment object trees is still a very manual process.
Engineers usually work from:
drawings
functional descriptions
spare-parts lists
vendor manuals
Excel sheets
existing inconsistent CMMS data
Then they have to decide what should become a maintainable asset, what should be excluded, how deep the hierarchy should go, how to name every object, and how to prepare the final list for SAP PM, Maximo, Infor EAM, or Excel.
That process can take a lot of time — and it is very easy to end up with:
❌ inconsistent naming
❌ missing parent-child links
❌ too much hardware detail
❌ duplicated objects
❌ unsupported assumptions
❌ Excel rework
CMMS Tree AI is designed to solve this.
The tool helps generate, validate, edit, and export CMMS object trees for industrial equipment such as:
shiploaders
ship unloaders
conveyors
tripper cars
shuttle carriages
cascade chutes
luffing systems
travel systems
rail clamps
pulley assemblies
belt cleaning systems
take-up systems
The workflow is simple:
Upload documents → Generate object tree → Validate hierarchy → Review evidence → Edit → Export
The system applies CMMS rules such as:
✅ dot-notation TYPE IDs
✅ full backslash-separated DESCRIPTION paths
✅ maximum hierarchy depth
✅ mechanical maintainability logic
✅ exclusion of bolts, nuts, washers, screws, grease nipples, and non-maintainable hardware
✅ grouping of repeated non-tagged parts
✅ splitting of positional/tagged/safety-critical components
✅ Excel-ready export
The goal is not just to create a list.
The goal is to help maintenance and reliability teams build cleaner, more consistent, more useful CMMS equipment hierarchies with less manual rework.
This is currently running as a local MVP, and I’m testing it with realistic industrial cases before moving toward a private alpha.
I’ll be sharing more updates as the product develops.
