"Levántate" is a story that popped into my head a couple months ago. It's a testament to resilience in the face of loss. I chose Nike to showcase the truth that champions aren't defined by their talent, but by their refusal to stay down. It gives perspective to what it means to become a champion. Champions don't give up when life gets hard. They keep fighting because their "why" keeps them going.

Last week I entered this video into the Contra x Morphic ad challenge. Over the weekend, I got a chance to refine it to closely match the vision I had in mind. Usually, commercials are 30-60 seconds. Anything longer is geared towards emotional storytelling. That’s what I was going for. I created this Nike-inspired cinematic ad using Morphic, an AI storytelling tool that helped put the thought in my head out into the world. The concept came from a thought I had a few months back. I hadn’t been involved in filmmaking in years, so the power of AI provided me a way to make it happen without the usual cost and logistics. The story follows Cassie, an 8-year-old Hispanic girl with dreams of becoming a champion boxer. After losing her mother, she and her father are left to grieve, but with each fight, Cassie carries her memory into the ring. Now 15, her determination has brought her to the finals of a junior championship. She gets knocked down and the ref starts counting to 10. In those moments, memories of her mother flash through her mind. Her dad watches from the corner and tells her, ”¡Levántate, mija!” Remembering her “why,” she makes it back up by the 8 count. She keeps fighting through the following rounds, eventually knocking down her opponent and winning the match. She takes a picture with her dad and her team, holding her newly won championship belt. In the final scene, Cassie and her dad return to her mother’s grave. This time, she places the championship on the tombstone. Winning it…for her. This story is inspired by the thousands who continue to fight for their dreams in the face of loss. No matter what life brings, we carry their memory with us. We get back up. We keep fighting. Champions are made when they refuse to lose. Get up. Rise up.
