Locket Oracle is a playful digital fortune teller that brings the experience of getting a tarot reading into your own hands.
The idea started with a simple thought: I could sit in my local dive bar pub and give people tarot readings. But building a digital fortune teller seemed easier, and potentially more fun. Instead of waiting to find a fortune teller, Locket Oracle lets you step into your own little world of mystery, make a choice, ask a question, and see what the cards have to say.
The app is designed with a vintage game aesthetic. It is not trying to make tarot feel overly serious or mystical. It is about creating a playful, immersive experience that makes you want to keep exploring.
Underneath the playful presentation, the tarot itself is treated seriously. The readings are grounded in traditional tarot meanings and symbolism, with the AI using those meanings as the foundation for interpreting the cards in the context of the user’s question.
You can choose between a one card reading, a three card reading, or a full ten card Celtic Cross reading. The experience adapts to the kind of question you bring to it, from something thoughtful and specific to something completely trivial or wonderfully strange.
The one card reading costs just 50p. I wanted it to feel almost as accessible as free, while still giving the user a small moment of intention. The idea is that putting even a tiny amount of intention into the question makes the experience more engaging.
At its heart, Locket Oracle solves a very simple problem: it gives you an instant personalised tarot experience without needing to find a fortune teller. There’s one in your pocket. It takes you on a small personal journey, with the cards and your question coming together to create a reading that feels like it belongs to you.
Perfect for when you want a little bit of magic, entertainment, or perspective right now. Maybe you’re at the pub with friends and have a ridiculous question. Maybe you have a genuine dilemma. Maybe you just want to see what happens if you ask the cards something completely absurd.
I built it in Bubble with Bubble’s AI tools and ChatGPT. Bubble handled the app structure, workflows, database and integrations, while ChatGPT helped build and debug much of the logic, particularly the more complex parts of the reading, card drawing and payment journey. There were also a few places where Bubble’s AI and ChatGPT approached problems differently, which became a surprisingly useful part of the building process. Together, they helped turn the idea into a working product.
The app integrates Stripe for payments and AI to generate personalised readings from the cards drawn. The result is part tarot reading, part game, and part digital night out.
My first plan is to take Locket Oracle back to the pub where the idea started and see what people make of it.
I’m planning to introduce it in pubs through simple QR codes, so anyone who is curious can scan, ask a question and get a reading there and then.
Basically, it is a fortune teller you can carry around in your pocket.
