“I found Urania’s Mirror (1824), a set of hand-coloured constellation cards engraved by Sidney Hall, through The Public Domain Review and the Library of Congress. I turned its engraved linework and watercolor washes into a custom Recraft Style, then used it to chart constellations that never existed: earbuds, e-scooters, video calls, food delivery, and more. Each of the ten cards treats a modern habit as a mythic star figure, as if an 1820s astronomer had mapped our daily lives, and I built an icon set, atlas mockups, and a star-glow animation around them. Pairing each card with its archive original shows how far a 200-year-old print shop can stretch. The result is ‘Urania’s Mirror, Updated,’ a fictional atlas where antique engraving makes everyday objects feel epic and a little absurd.
