I am a product designer. I have never shipped a solo app before. I built Zorya anyway.
It started during my own pregnancy. I went looking for a tracker and found the same thing everywhere: apps that required an account, uploaded your data to a server, and charged you every month for the privilege. Symptoms, weight, mental health notes, baby movement. All of it going somewhere you could not see or control. I could not find a single one that just kept your data on your phone.
So I decided to build one.
I ran a research survey with 53 mothers before designing anything. The results were striking: 96% had used a pregnancy or fertility app with documented privacy violations, and 70% said local-only data storage was extremely important to them. The problem was real and nobody was solving it the right way.
I designed the full product from scratch. Brand identity, UI system, every App Store asset, all the launch marketing. I navigated App Store Connect alone, dealt with rejections, and figured out what it actually takes to ship something as a solo non-technical founder.
Zorya stores everything locally on your phone. No backend. No accounts. No subscription. One purchase. The data never leaves your device, by architecture, not just by policy.
It is live now.

What if Netflix had grown out of Bombay’s golden age of cinema?
I’ve always loved the idea that design can tell you where something comes from, so I wanted to imagine a version of Netflix that didn’t come from Silicon Valley, but from Bombay’s Art Deco cinema culture of the 1930s and 40s.
That meant looking beyond the obvious visual treatment and asking what the experience itself might have been.
The homepage becomes a cinema program.
The mobile app becomes a pocket guide.
Film recommendations become show listings.
And suddenly, even a “My List” feels a little more like something you’d keep in your ticket stub collection.
I kept the visual language rooted in Bombay Deco: geometric typography, symmetry, strong verticals, stepped forms, warm reds and creams, and the kind of theatrical graphic language you’d find around the city’s cinema halls.
The fun part was imagining how a product built for infinite scrolling might feel if it had inherited the sense of occasion that came with going to the cinema.

Always interesting to see how other creatives look at the same design from a completely different perspective.
I’m leaning toward the dark version, it has a bit more depth and personality. Great experiment!
🚀 FEATURED AGAIN.
THE INTERESTING PART IS WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE THE UI.
Traveling Up was the first mobile concept I created purely for myself in almost three years.
No client brief.
No existing product.
No predefined feature list.Just one observation from a short trip:
🌍 Most travel products start by asking where you want to go.
I wanted to start one step earlier.
How do you want to feel?
That single shift changed the whole product logic.
✨ Destination search became mood led discovery.
⏳ Time became part of the recommendation.
🎲 Uncertainty became part of the experience instead of something the product had to remove.
That became Traveling Up.
And now Contra has hand picked the project for Featured and placed it in the AI Projects section on the homepage.
The most interesting part for me is not the feature itself.
It is how often the strongest product directions begin before the interface.
In the framing.
In the question.
In understanding what the user is actually trying to experience.
That is the kind of work we keep pushing at Asol Design.
Not just better screens. Better product decisions before the screens exist.
