I've audited local businesses that spent months on content while their Google Business Profile was actively working against them.
The most common issue: a primary GBP category that's close to correct but not exact. "Plumber" instead of "Emergency plumber." "Contractor" instead of "Deck builder." Close-but-wrong categories mean Google is matching the business against a different, broader competitive set than the one it should actually be competing in quietly capping local pack visibility no amount of content will fix.
It's a five-minute check, and it's almost never the first thing a business thinks to look at, because it doesn't feel like "REAL" SEO work compared to writing blog posts or building links.
Worth checking today: Business Profile → Edit → is your primary category the most specific accurate match, or just close enough?
