What I love about retrofuturism is that it says as much about the past as it does about the future. It’s less about predicting what came next, and more about seeing what people hoped the future might become.
For this piece, I wanted to imagine lunar living through a very mid-century lens — warm walnut, a sunken conversation pit, beautifully designed technology, calm domesticity — with the Moon outside treated as completely ordinary.
The idea was to create something that feels like it could have been designed in 1964 for a future everyone was certain was just around the corner: optimistic, elegant, slightly strange, and now a little poignant because that particular future never arrived.

Retrofuturism at its best that warm wood-paneled interior against the cold lunar surface really sells the optimism of it. Great concept.
