Left one - scaling down and moving into the black box is my choice. But I would flip it, the name visible throughout and on scroll over the image appears...

Now the image is present fully hiding the black box and on hover the image moves and the name appears. Similarly try the reverse. Name and the black box is visible and on hover the image appears.

Today we're picking a 3D token animation for a crypto project.

Option A: simple, plain white, no extra detail

The arches in that hero shot do a lot of the trust-building on their own, they read stable and established without a single line of copy yet. Was there a version of this template that leaned harder into typical consulting-site cues, like team headshots or client logos up top, before you stripped it back to this?
