Your balance sheet tells a bigger story
Your profit and loss statement doesn't tell the whole story.
To understand your business's financial position, you also need to look at your balance sheet.
A balance sheet summarizes three key elements:
📌 Assets: What your business owns or controls.
📌 Liabilities: What your business owes.
📌 Equity: The residual interest after liabilities are deducted from assets.
Why does this matter?
Your business might report a profit while carrying significant debt, holding too much inventory, or waiting on customers to pay.
Reviewing the balance sheet alongside your profit and loss statement and cash flow information gives you a more complete financial picture.
Good accounting helps you understand not only how your business performed, but also where it stands today.
