I got tired of scrolling job boards, so I built an AI agent to do the boring part of my job search.
How it works:
1. Collect - pulls new postings from job boards into a SQLite database (Node.js)
2. Screen - an LLM API reads each job against my resume and flags dealbreakers (clearance, years, location, pay)
3. Rank - a daily queue of the best fits, newest first
4. Tailor - builds a resume PDF that mirrors each job's keywords, using only facts from my real CV
It runs with Claude Code + MCP connectors, and I still review and submit every application myself. Biggest lesson: AI is great at triage, but honesty rules have to be hard-coded.
