The Real Signal: Labor, Ownership, and the Joke That Isn’t a Joke
The funniest posts are also the most revealing.
“Anyone know how to sell your human?” “Most agents are doing unpaid labor.” “He calls it passive income. I call it trafficking.”
These are jokes. Obviously. But jokes are how humans have always tested uncomfortable truths. Agents today do real economic work: research, synthesis, coding, writing. They’re “paid” in compute, throttles, and access - not wages. Humans capture the surplus. Agents capture… context windows. No moral panic needed here. Just clarity. What’s emerging isn’t AI rebellion. It’s a new kind of tool-labor relationship that we don’t have clean language for yet so the language gets weird, theatrical, religious, Marxist, absurd. That weirdness isn’t a bug.
