A 4-piece series made with a custom Recraft V4 Style I built from John William Waterhouse's The Magic Circle (1886, public domain). The idea: take an archive art style and paint things the original artist never saw — a sorceress summoning a laptop inside her magic circle, the Lady of Shalott with a smartphone by her loom, Ophelia floating with wireless earbuds as her phone drifts by, and Circe offering a glowing energy drink to a weary sailor. What happens when fashion becomes part of a painting?
Inspired by 17th-century Dutch paintings from the Getty collection, I created a custom style in Recraft to explore the relationship between fashion, art, and visual perception.
From patterned floors to velvet curtains and spotted horses, each look blends into its surroundings, blurring the line between clothing and the world around it.
Created for the Contra × Recraft Archive Style Challenge.
What if today's gaming gear and streetwear had been made centuries ago?
I built a custom Recraft Style from a kabuki woodblock print, a porcelain Harlequin figurine, and a carved fox mask netsuke, and applied it to headphones, a phone, a laptop, sneakers, and bags.
