A bit of a throwback to a project from last year! I had a great time designing a full Airbnb-like booking experience for Pension, and was able to add to it a lot of nice scenery-based illustrations!

Figma just dropped Slots, and this is a semi-big deal.

If you've ever detached a component just to customise it, you know the pain. Lost link to the main component. No upstream updates. Design system slowly fractures.

Slots fixes this. Flexible zones inside components where you can add, remove, and rearrange content without detaching.

It means less components inside components inside components inside components...

This also mirrors how components actually work in code. Engineers build with slots natively. Designers have been faking it. That gap just got smaller.
