Freelancer life isn't all client calls and deadlines π
My typical day lately:
π
Early gym session β treadmill, rowing, some cycling, then full-body strength training before the day gets busy
β Breakfast and a slow start to emails (the freelancer privilege of not rushing out the door)
π» Deep work blocks for client projects
π Lunch breaks that almost always involve something from the local market β nothing beats fresh Pakistani food
π Evenings winding down, sometimes catching a singing competition on Discord with friends
Working from Islamabad means I get the best of both worlds β flexible hours and a city that never feels boring. Balancing the hustle with actually living life is something I'm still figuring out, but the gym + good food combo is keeping me sane.
What does your daily routine look like? π

Best advice I can give to other freelancers is, if you have few hours with nothing to do, go outside, go drink coffee and do what you love to do. It will fill you with energy you didn't know you can have! β¨
Absolutely true! Stopping from time to time and taking your mind off things can work wonders.
One of my posts went SUPER VIRALLLL. π
80K+ views. 300+ likes. 50+ UpGoats. Hundreds of conversations.
All from one line I wrote straight from the heart.
"The miracles you're looking for are in the work you're avoiding."
I wrote it because that's genuinely how I felt. No strategy. No expectations. Just something I believed in.
I never imagined it would resonate with so many people, let alone become one of the most talked-about lines on my profile.
And now, looking at these numbers, the line hits differently. Sometimes, the sign you're waiting for is the work you've been putting off. Maybe the miracle really is on the other side of doing it. π€

Congratulations, Anky! Itβs encouraging to see your hard work paying off. I just joined Contra and Iβm still figuring things out, so seeing posts like this gives me a little extra motivation. Hopefully, Iβll have my own milestone to share here someday!

A job tracking system for a car repair shop.
β± One board showing every car on the floor, where each one stands and whatβs holding it up.
Add a car, assign the work, and from there it tracks itself- whatβs late, which parts have landed, whoβs in today. Visit history, receipts, and a widget that tells you the next free slot you can offer someone.
Three days. Not smooth ones. But itβs liveβοΈ
β± Now the why, because none of those features were my idea.
My client owns the shop. Four mechanics, up to seven cars a day, no front desk. For months heβd complain about the same stuff whenever we talked: parts he ordered and forgot about, mechanics starting one car and getting pulled onto another, people asking when they can bring a car in and him not knowing what to say.
It was never a brief, of course, he was just talking. But one day I asked him properly: what do you need to see the moment you walk in?
β± He said four things. And those four made sense as widgets, naturally.
Nothing on the job board gets typed in by a person. For example, a car shows as blocked because the mechanic who has it is off today- the board works that out and writes the reason on the card. He doesnβt walk around the shop asking anyone, he can just see it now.
β± And the part nobody puts in these postsπ
β It is my first time ever (!) using Base44 and I started without a paid plan, so I had a hard limit on how many prompts I got.
You canβt iterate your way to something like that. Every prompt had to arrive already correct, which meant almost all of the work happened before I typed anything. I designed every screen and every state in Figma first, then worked out exactly what to ask for and in what order.
I spent hours with Claude and Google figuring out how to phrase things, what would break, what to check before changing anything. Iβd write a prompt and then throw it away and write a better one, because a wasted prompt cost more than the time did π€·π»ββοΈ
Honestly, the constraint made it better. No aimless tinkering. Every change had a reason before it was made, and I still got every core feature I wanted in there.
