I've added several new features that bring the experience closer to a professional live rowing broadcast while keeping everything fully interactive.
✨ What's new:
• Real-time 500m split tracking – as soon as the race leader reaches each 500m checkpoint, the split time is recorded. Every following athlete automatically displays both the time gap and distance gap to the leader, calculated entirely in real time using Rive Scripting.
• Interactive Results Board – displays the final standings with athlete names, flags, and finish times. Clicking on any athlete instantly updates their portrait.
• Custom World Rowing transition – a new transition overlay designed to connect scenes with a polished broadcast look.
• Lower Third Athlete Introduction – broadcast-style introduction graphics for every competitor.
• Fully data-driven interface – every value, image, name, flag, timer, and leaderboard is connected through Data Binding, making the entire broadcast interactive without manually animating each state.

Reimagining Blitzball as a Modern Sports Broadcast
I’m Wayne Porter, creative designer and owner of Porter Design and Motion. For the Rive Broadcast Challenge, I wanted to combine several interests into one project: motion design, sports broadcasting, interactive systems, and Final Fantasy X.
Inspired by studios such as Drive Studio and Territory Studio, along with designers Jacob LaPlante and Justin Peterson, I reimagined Blitzball as a modern broadcast experience for the fictional Spira Sports Network.
Blitzball is an intense underwater sport that combines elements of water polo and soccer. My goal was to create a broadcast package that felt energetic and futuristic, while remaining clear, readable, and functional.
The project began with the network identity and main scoreboard. From there, I developed a connected system that included:
A primary scoreboard
A compact gameplay score bug
A player statistics graphic
Three lower-third variations
A full-screen matchup takeover
Consistency was important throughout the package. Each element shares the same visual and motion language, allowing the graphics to feel like part of one complete broadcast system.
Rive’s state machines, view models, and data binding allowed me to create reusable layouts, player-specific information, animated score updates, and multiple graphic variations without treating every screen as a separate animation.
This project pushed me to think beyond individual motion pieces and focus on the entire delivery as a functional product. It was a fun opportunity to explore how design, animation, and interactive logic can work together to create a believable sports broadcast experience.

Aether Nexus 2026 is a futuristic interactive broadcast and telemetry UI created for the Rive Broadcast & Livestream UI Challenge. The project simulates a live racing broadcast with a real-time Director's Control Console, animated state machines, and data-driven telemetry.
The experience features interactive broadcast modes including Standby, Intro, Live Telemetry, Driver Spotlight, Battle Mode, Pit Strategy, Instant Replay, and Victory Podium. Users can manipulate live variables such as speed, RPM, G-force, heart rate, shield level, and plasma heat while switching camera feeds and driver profiles in real time.
The interface is designed to demonstrate Rive's advanced capabilities, including State Machines, Data Binding, Variables, Events, Nested Artboards, GPU Canvas rendering, and smooth 60 FPS interactive animations, all presented in a cinematic broadcast package inspired by Formula 1 and next-generation esports production.
