AI Voice Ordering Assistant for Restaurants | AI Phone Ordering System, Retell AI, OpenAI & Make Automation

A restaurant business needed an AI-powered voice ordering system to automate phone orders, reduce missed calls during peak hours, and improve customer service efficiency. The client wanted an AI phone assistant capable of handling inbound calls, taking customer orders conversationally, confirming delivery details, and automatically sending completed orders to their restaurant POS system.

To solve this, I developed a custom AI voice ordering assistant using Retell AI, OpenAI, Make automation, and Stripe integration. The AI voice agent was designed to interact naturally with customers, understand menu selections, confirm order details, process delivery information, and provide a seamless conversational ordering experience.

Using conversational AI and OpenAI integration, the system handled dynamic customer conversations, recognized order modifications, answered frequently asked questions, and reduced dependency on manual phone support. The AI assistant was optimized for inbound call automation and restaurant workflow efficiency.

I also implemented Make.com automation workflows to connect the AI ordering system with the restaurant’s backend operations and POS workflow. Automated workflows handled order processing, delivery confirmations, payment coordination, and real-time order notifications for restaurant staff.

Stripe integration supported secure payment processing workflows and automated payment verification for delivery orders. The system significantly reduced order handling time while improving customer response speed and operational productivity.
