HerbWise: A High-Impact Digital Repository for Traditional Wellness
As a designer focused on high-impact product design and accessibility, I developed HerbWise to serve as a glocal health repository that digitizes and preserves indigenous medical knowledge for modern users. The Discovery and Herb Library interface utilizes a clean, high-contrast search system and scannable cards to display botanical names, benefits, and specific use-case tags, transforming complex traditional data into an approachable resource. By prioritizing a content-first information architecture, I ensured that the platform remains intuitive for diverse user groups while maintaining a professional and modern aesthetic.
To enhance findability and reduce cognitive load, the Condition-Based Navigation system implements a dual-entry framework that allows users to move seamlessly from a physical symptom, such as sleep or digestive health, to a validated natural solution. This icon-driven layout maps specific ailments to herbal remedies, creating a smooth path for users who may not know the name of a herb but understand their own health concerns. The design balances this functionality with a calm, natural visual identity, ensuring the transition from identifying a problem to discovering a remedy is both intuitive and cohesive.
The final design phase, centered on the Safety and Guidance Framework, emphasizes a safety-first approach and inclusive design leadership. I integrated a simplified four-step instructional guide alongside prominent safety warnings and sourcing notes to establish platform integrity and user trust. This project highlights my ability to transform fragmented cultural information into a professional digital product that champions accessibility and sustainable development through thoughtful, high-impact UX design.
