What do you use to document a project so another developer can easily understand it?
I’m working on an FYP idea and I’m researching existing tools.
I’m looking for something where a developer can document a project while building it, like:
• How the system works
• How different parts connect
• Why certain decisions were made
• Important business logic
• APIs and database
• Useful notes about the code
• Problems, fixes, and things future developers should know
Then if Developer A leaves the project, Developer B can open the project and understand it without spending weeks figuring everything out.
I also want to add an AI/RAG assistant that can answer questions about the project and explain the old developer’s code and decisions.
I found tools like Swimm and CodeSee, but I’d like to know what developers here actually use.

What if sharing your work was just part of making it?
I love the idea of building in public, but documenting the process can become a whole process of its own.
So I wanted to see if I could remove some of that friction by creating a work diary.
I’m experimenting with using AI to pull from the work I’m already doing and turn it into simple daily entries, so I can keep track of all the ideas, decisions, mistakes, and little discoveries that usually disappear once a project is done.
I just want to make the work I’m already doing easier to share.

Project description:
Unifai is an AI-powered HR platform designed to reduce the friction involved in navigating complex employee and compliance data.
Rather than forcing HR teams to move between dashboards, reports, employee records, and filters, the experience introduces an AI assistant as a central interaction layer. Users can ask questions naturally, investigate issues, access employee context, and move from an insight to the relevant information without breaking their workflow.
The product experience combines conversational AI, compliance monitoring, employee insights, attendance data, onboarding, and workforce analytics within a unified interface.
Our design approach focused heavily on information hierarchy. HR platforms can quickly become dense, so the interface uses progressive disclosure, contextual recommendations, focused data visualisation, and an AI-first interaction model to keep complex information approachable.
The result is an enterprise experience that feels less like navigating HR software and more like having an intelligent assistant sitting on top of your workforce data.
