Hey all đź‘‹
Quick show & tell. I built a free tool called Bot Appétit and I’d love for this community to be among the first to kick the tyres.
What it is
Bot Appétit is a free website scanner that checks how ready a page is for both AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Claude, Gemini) and classic search. You paste a URL, and about 20 seconds later you get a 0–100 score with a category-by-category breakdown.
What it does
It runs 60+ checks across:
AEO / content — how liftable and citable your content is to answer engines
AI access — whether crawlers like GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot are actually allowed to read you (a surprising number of sites block them by accident)
Structured data — is your JSON-LD present, valid, and the right type
SEO — the classics: titles, metas, one H1, heading order, canonicals, sitemaps, alt text, Open Graph
Links, security, performance — healthy anchors, HTTPS done right, secure headers, plus live Core Web Vitals from Google PageSpeed on every scan
Advanced — the frontier stuff: agent & MCP-readiness and the /.well-known/ files that let AI agents discover and act on your site
Every check comes with why it matters and what good looks like — the full list is public on the “what we check” page, no mystery meat.
Why I built it
At Milk Moon Studio we kept doing this by hand on every project — check robots.txt, validate schema, check the H1s, check llms.txt, run PageSpeed, squint at fifteen tabs. The existing tools were either paywalled, demanded your email first, checked classic SEO but ignored AI, or checked “AI readiness” but ignored the SEO fundamentals that still do most of the heavy lifting. Nothing looked at the whole plate. So I built the thing I wanted.
It’s free. Actually free.
No signup, no email, no trial that ambushes you later. Paste a URL, get your score. I’m a Webflow studio, so it’s Webflow-friendly — but the scanner doesn’t care what your site is built on. WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, hand-rolled HTML, whatever. Scan away.
A couple of honest notes
It’s brand new, so if you spot a bug it would be amazing if you’d flag it — that’s a huge part of why I’m posting here.
Right now it scans one page at a time (plus the site-wide signals around it: robots.txt, sitemap, llms.txt, security.txt, the /.well-known/ files, an AI-discovery DNS lookup, and a missing-page probe). Capped multi-page full-site scans are on the roadmap, along with accounts so you can track scores over time. For now, hit “scan another site” as many times as you like.
Would genuinely love your feedback — what’s useful, what’s confusing, and anything that breaks.
