Quick update (my type of quick for sure) on experimenting with Figma AI Agent as a web designer & UX/UI designer: I gathered references in one place, picked them all, and asked Figma AI to create a large wireframe of a landing page with all the building blocks from those references — done ✅ I asked to wrap all the blocks up into autolayout — done ✅ I asked to create components from all the repeatable UI elements — done ✅ Wrap it all up systematically according to Atomic Design Methodology principles & create components for atoms, molecules, organisms, templates, and pages — done ✅ Create a design system for this wireframe (whatever design system means, I'm not an expert in it yet) — done ✅ I asked to make a wireframe "colorful", i.e. to design UI visually — done ✅ But done how, right? 🤔 Plagiarism bothers me a lot now (seniors will ironically laugh now, probably), I mean anybody can generate a website based on anybody's references, or am I getting it wrong? Maybe now the speed of it bothers me except for the fact itself. What if someone copies my AI slop?.. Just kidding, but some of my references really were AI-generated already 🤔 Same here, AI-generated images and icons on the final UI — definitely needs extra-deep-diving into license and rights ❌ Autolayout doesn't mean it's responsive and has min-/max-width without a reminder, for now ❌ Technical mistakes were made, obviously, which means more corrections = more designer's time spent ❌ Visual design still lacks creativity and human touch, that's for sure. Super basic layout grid, typical AI typography is recognisable, not in a good way. Colors picked super-obviously, without any wow-effect whatsoever. Also, typical AI chip element should probably be removed one day 'cause it's basically everywhere 🫵 A junior can learn a lot about how autolayouts, components, Atomic Design and design systems with variables work in the real world, more or less. For me as a freelancer, it was helpful, especially with design systems You should probably know that, as I've been excited about design in general since 2017, I was excited to create all this with AI. Of course I was! I'm not a technical person, more of a linguist formally, and the technology blew and continues blowing my mind. I'm completely amazed by its capacities nowadays. It's amazing. Yet I have to admit that even though AI makes your dreams "come true" (I'm exaggerating for the bigger effect), it has some critical issues. I won't show you the concept for one very simple reason — it's obvious it's 100% AI-made, and believe me, it's no different from typical AI-generated website designs nowadays. And as a conclusion, my little secret: for now, as of August '26, it's been so much "quicker" and easier to just drop the AI and design something myself.
