Building Marketing Systems, Not Just Sending Newsletters
My work with FluentCRM gave me hands-on experience with one of the areas I care about most: turning customer data, behavior, and communication into an automated marketing system.
FluentCRM combines CRM, email campaigns, segmentation, sequences, and automation inside WordPress. My role covered both marketing the product and working deeply with the workflows it was built to solve.
The Challenge
Email marketing becomes messy quickly when campaigns, subscriber data, segmentation, automation, and email delivery are treated as separate problems.
The objective was to communicate these workflows in a practical way while building campaigns that reflected how businesses actually use CRM and automation.
What I Worked On
My work included:
Email marketing strategy
Marketing automation planning
CRM workflow design
Contact segmentation
Lists and tagging strategy
Behavior-based automation
Drip and lifecycle sequences
Product onboarding campaigns
Educational campaigns
Feature and product-update emails
Promotional campaigns
Lead nurturing
Customer engagement workflows
FluentCRM + FluentSMTP deliverability workflows
Email sending infrastructure education
Campaign analysis and optimization
I ran or contributed to 60+ product, educational, promotional, and lifecycle email campaigns during this period.
Automation Thinking
A good automation isn't simply:
Trigger → Send Email.
The workflow needs to understand:
Who is this person?
What have they done?
What haven't they done?
What should happen next?
That meant working with segmentation, tags, user behavior, conditions, actions, sequences, WordPress events, and integrations to build more relevant customer journeys.
Email Deliverability
Another major part of the work was helping communicate the difference between an email marketing platform and the infrastructure responsible for actually delivering email.
That included workflows involving:
FluentCRM
FluentSMTP
Transactional email providers
Sending reputation
Email routing
Campaign performance
Deliverability-conscious setup
The Outcome
This experience moved my work well beyond email copywriting.
It gave me practical experience designing and marketing complete lifecycle systems covering:
Love this test! $1/day same creative 24h - clear difference. Boost Post = reach only past followers, no targeting. Real campaign = link clicks tracked. I always tell my shoe brand clients - boost is visibility only, no results. Great experiment!
I'm about to go on a #30days Personal Content Creations Challenge about my NoCode stack with @Contra till I get my first client on contra

A series on your no-code stack could be useful for clients choosing a platform. Are you planning an episode on client handoff and ongoing content editing? That would be an interesting angle alongside the build process.
Built a custom internal workspace that runs an entire marketing team from one dashboard — tasks, targets, reports, and a unified social inbox, all in a single place instead of scattered across five different apps.
Engineered it as a secure multi-user system: two-factor authentication with authenticator-app support, backup codes, and admin-controlled access — not just a UI, but proper auth architecture built to protect real business data.
Handled it end to end: scoping, backend logic, frontend, deployment, delivery.
