Super excited to share my entry for the Contra x Rive - Broadcast & Livestream UI Challenge! I sometimes look at events like GDQ (Games Done Quick) and I took a stab at recreating a similar broadcast overlay. I was really curious to get a preview of what a full pipeline would look like from Rive to OBS, and I accidentally ended up creating a mini-software that allows me to control all the different properties live. Just like in a real production? I'm not sure, all I know is that it works. 😅 The project includes 9 components: 🎯 Incentives ⏱️ Timer 🏃 Runner names 🎙️ Co-casters 🕹️ Game info 💰 Total donations ⏭️ Skip names 🔔 Donation alerts 🎬 Intro/Breaks title cards I have to give a shout out to @blackbox_grafx 🙌 I had to speedrun through the design part to get this done on time and I used his designs as inspiration for the cyberpunk vibe. Special thanks to Claude for the HTML and JS, the extra tips, and honestly having my back. Cheers!

Built a premium livestream overlay concept using React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS and Rive.

I’ve been working on an interactive livestream overlay designed for the Rive Broadcast & Livestream UI Challenge.

Live chat, donation alerts, subscriber goals, countdown timer, animated viewer count and OBS-friendly transparent mode.

The goal was to create something that feels closer to a professional Twitch or YouTube Live broadcast package rather than a simple static overlay.

My #rivebroadcastingchallenge entry is a bit special as it is a real bike event from 2025, not the most complex, but where time-to-market, stability and real constraints with last-minute changes were involved.

This was the first time we used Rive but we've previously had some success using Lottie for productions with Eurosport, TNT Sports, ORF, RTS, NRK, TV3, CBC Sport, blue TV and Rai Sport so the team had unwarranted trust that my new software would not crash... And it did not crash. 😄

Instead of a graphics showreel I put the full bike ride of a team of 2 competitors on LinkedIn as it is a lot of fun to watch:

For the #rivebroadcastchallenge here’s a look back at a slopestyle/downhill bike event we did in 2025. For those that don’t know, slopestyle involves doing crazy bike tricks without falling on the head and downhill is riding doing stairs at 50+ km/h without falling on the head. Our setup: * 1 week to build all the animations and software * 1 day to install the timing equipment * 2 people to do the setup The best compliment we got was people asking if we were doing the rest of the UCI european tour which is a much bigger team. 💜 The video shows the data coming back through 5G in real time to the TV truck where I was sitting. I kept the full runs from Alanko and Agurto because they’re super fun to watch. At 2:15 you can see Agurto’s head cam in the top left.
