🌅 Portland doesn't cancel sunsets. It hides them.
For a photographer who only shoots in the last hour of sun, that's a problem no calendar can fix.
📸 HERON HOUR
Portland rain kept turning Maya's bookings into 16-message rescheduling threads. Heron Hour lets clients book a window of light instead of a date, and the real forecast picks the evening and reschedules it by itself.
Maya Reyes is a golden-hour portrait photographer in Portland, Oregon. Three locations. One hour of good light a day. No assistant.
Last fall, 11 of her 26 sessions were rained out. Every one became a 16-message thread. Weather checks. "Can we do Sunday?" Refunds. Re-confirmations. All answered between editing, driving to the coast, and sleep.
So I rebuilt the moment "can I book with you?" becomes "you're booked."
☀️ Clients book the light, not the date. They hold a window. The sky picks the evening.
• Live forecast → 16 real evenings scored from Open-Meteo, with the reason shown • Six readings → one evening, locked 72 hours out • Storm rolls in → every session re-docks itself, and the client gets one text • Three places → three recipes for light, down to the live low tide at Cannon Beach • Book → deposit held, calendar invite sent
🌙 And on Maya's side: • Any DM, email or text → read and answered in two seconds with three real evenings • One board of sessions docked to light, one log of everything the sky handled • A sandbox for judges: throw a storm, jump 72 hours, watch it all move on its own
Before: 16 messages for every rained-out evening. After: one text. Sent by the sky. Maya never saw it.
Maya's to-do list? Empty. ✨
