🌍 Why Greenland Isn’t Green. We created this video for a youtube channel recently Despite its name, Greenland is mostly covered by ice — about 80 % of the island is under a massive ice sheet, not lush vegetation.

The name Greenland was given around 1000 AD by the Norse explorer Erik the Red to make the icy island sound attractive and encourage settlement, even though only small coastal areas have grass and shrubs in summer.

That’s why today the name feels misleading — it’s more a historical marketing choice than a description of the landscape.

I definitely feel this. Even working mostly behind screens, a few minutes of real sunlight or stepping outside can completely reset focus and creativity. It’s interesting how much our energy shifts with the seasons.
