The fastest way to kill a product's clarity is to keep building before the core idea is defined. I watched myself almost do it. Working on my own app, I had design iterations, animation concepts, reward mechanics, notification ideas, all queued up. The instinct was to keep moving and build the next thing. Then it hit me: the core value proposition wasn't defined yet. The animations looked right but the underlying logic wasn't clear to a new user. So I made a rule. No further feature development until the direction is set. That sentence is easy to write and brutal to follow when you're the one excited to build. Every feature stacked on an undefined core is one more thing to redo later. The work feels like progress. It's debt. Subtract until there's one clear idea. Then build.
