Rebuilding a B2B SaaS site for four different buyer segments
One SaaS product, four different buyers. The marketing site pitched all of them the same way, same benefits, same order, same angle. Each segment had different priorities and different reasons to care. Nobody bounced immediately, but they didn't stick around either.
Mapping the page against user interview notes from four segments showed the real problem: every concern those groups raised was already on the page, just never near the top, and never in their language. It wasn't a content problem. It was a sequencing problem.
I rebuilt it as four dedicated industry pages, one per segment. Same core value, but the story got rebuilt for each one, leading with that segment's specific pain points before the feature list. The page had to prove it understood their business before it asked for anything.
Conversion to book a demo nearly doubled, and prospects started showing up to calls already understanding how the product applied to them, instead of us explaining it from scratch.
Same product, same core value. What changed was the order and the language, and that's what made it land.

What actually creates activation in a focus product?
🛡️ A - Protection-first
The user immediately sees what the system will remove from their path: notifications, Slack, calendar conflicts & other likely interruptions
⚡ B -Preparation-first
The product first creates a sense of readiness for deep work: conditions are set, the focus window is clear, & the goal is defined
I’m less interested in which screen looks better
The real question is:
At what point does the user think, “Okay, this product can actually help me do better work”?
What creates a stronger activation moment — and potentially stronger retention?

Should a productivity product sell users control over distractions, or confidence that they are entering the right conditions to do meaningful work?

My gut says B wins on activation but A wins on retention. Protection feels urgent right in the moment, preparation is what actually makes someone open the app again tomorrow. Curious if your testing points the other way.
