Hey Contra community ๐
New here and finally giving Contra a real shot.
Iโve been freelancing and consulting for years around automation, AI workflows, internal tools, and operating systems. Most of my work has been with agencies and ops-heavy teams that want to reduce repetitive manual work.
Iโm coming from Upwork, but after years of connects, boosts, and paid visibility, Iโm actively looking for something better. Iโd rather focus on building systems than gaming a platform.
Iโm curious how this looks on Contra: are there people here doing automation, AI, or internal tools? Have any newcomers landed work without bringing their own network? And for those who went Pro early on โ did it help?
Not selling anything โ just evaluating if Contra could become my main platform. Would love to hear real experiences ๐
Thank you Amine, the fact that it's a social media platform gives you a chance to showcase your expertise and work through a content strategy and storytelling approach that may lead you clients efficiently! Rather than just attaching your portfolio link or uploading images of...
Built myself a little command center for my freelance work this week. Itโs called Bench.
Contra handles the contracts and payments, but my day-to-day was scattered across Contra chats, Gmail, my calendar, Notion, and a notes app. So I pulled it all into one place:
โข A dashboard showing what needs me today: unread messages, overdue tasks, past-due invoices, leads that have gone quiet
โข Each project gets its own page with scope, deliveries, tasks, links, and the full message thread from Contra and email
โข A pipeline for leads, including a โGhostedโ column, because weโve all been there
โข A time tracker for the hourly stuff
โข It syncs with my Contra projects and invoices every morning
Curious how other freelancers here keep track of everything. Spreadsheets? Notion? Pure chaos?
Clients often start with the same request: "Let's build an AI agent."
My counter-question is always: which manual process actually costs you time, errors, or money right now?
My selection rule: remove it first. If it can't be removed, simplify it. If it's still needed, automate it with a plain script. Only then add an integration or an agent. Often the best result is the process that no longer exists.
Safe automation means real scenarios, error handling, and alerts. Without alerts, a workflow can silently lose data for weeks. I always define what stays with a human and what goes to the system.
Question for you: which process would you automate first, and why is it still manual?

Alerts are the part I'd underline. In my Linux deploy demo I killed the service on purpose and systemd restarted it, but without an alert nobody would know it happened. For small workflows, where do you send alerts: email, Slack, or something else?
Another service is officially live on Contra! ๐
This time, it's App Design & Development.
From early-stage ideas to existing products, I help businesses create mobile and web app experiences that combine thoughtful design, intuitive functionality, and a distinctive visual identity.
Whether you need a developer-ready Figma design, development from an existing design, or help bringing your idea to life, I'd love to hear what you're working on.
