This is a family location tracking app - especially relevant to families with working parents and school-aged children.
How often do you go to work and wonder if your child has arrived at school yet? Or their soccer practice outside of school? Have they arrived at a classmate’s birthday party and how far are they from home?
With this family location tracking app - every family will be assured knowing where each and every family member is on the map, their distance from home, and based on that distance, ETA for how long it’d take for them to return home.
Scope:
Who is the user? Families
Problem? User wants to know location (live/in real-time) and safety of their family members throughout the day when they’re not home
Primary Task Location Tracking
Success Metric(s): Safety Score(s)
User Flows:
Onboarding Flow
sign up screen
screen to create family group (send invite family members to join family location tracking)
family members enable location tracking so their location is visble to everyone in the family group
Daily Use Flow
Map screen that shows where each family member is at and based on their location, distance from home and ETA to home
each family member has an avator for easy follow on map
once family member arrives at set location (e.g. work, school - option to add other places and set time and date of when family member will commute there) family member that has the alert on will be notified that the family member has safely arrived
user can also set alert notifications if family member is 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes late to a destination at set time
also a chat screen to follow up whereabouts of family member
option to call family member
also a safety insights screen to measure safety level of family in general (includes a safety score and recommends safe routes based on where family members are commuting to and from)
Emergency Flow
in case of emergency, SOS button to alert all family members
Workflow:
I used Google Stitch for early exploratory work and claude for prototyping (I had so much fun and this is just the start of a great project , I feel like there’s a lot more to this app idea, I’m going to track further progress on X!)
Included some initial screens created on Stitch 😄 Feedback for Stitch
- generally great ui generation compared to other tools without me feeding any design system/visual references (I'm impressed)
- amazed the flows that stitch is able to produce (it's not thinking in indiviudal screens but a flow or an experience which is refreshing compared to other tools)
- though sometimes the ui won't load or fall off in subsequent screens (for example in my case, the map view, there's a map for earlier screens, but with subsequent prompts, it fails to load the ui for the map)
